The Los Angeles Clippers are looking to add a veteran point guard before the NBA trade deadline, according to ESPN’s Marc J. Spears (at the 3:40 mark).

We’re exactly a month away from the NBA trade deadline, so we went hot stove with @ZachLowe_NBA, @MarcJSpears and @RamonaShelburne to find out the most likely buyers, sellers and buyout candidates to look for over the next few weeks: https://t.co/AMDJMsHkah

Spears proposed George Hill as an option for the Clippers, who are 23-10 with Patrick Beverley at the position.

Beverley is averaging 8.3 points and 2.2 assists. Reggie Jackson (8.4 points and 3.1 assists per game) is also in the group’s rotation at the position.

But while Kawhi Leonard suits up in the frontcourt, he’s been doing it all for the Clippers, averaging 27.1 points, 6.2 rebounds with 4.8 assists per game.

The evidence is there—the Clippers lack a true point guard who has the ability to run the show.

Hill hasn’t played since Jan. 24 after undergoing a procedure on his thumb, but he was effective in 14 games for the Oklahoma City Thunder. The 34-year-old averaged 11.8 points and 3.1 assists per outing upon joining the team in the trade that sent center Steven Adams to New Orleans

The Clippers are also in the running to land Toronto Raptors point guard Kyle Lowry, according to Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer, though the 34-year-old reportedly is ready to come home to his native Philadelphia.

A six-time All-Star, Lowry would provide an instant boost to the Clippers offense.

But all told, the Clippers have had a respectable start to the season with their current system in place.
